Even during "off-seasons" athletes must still maintain physical fitness & skills, leaving little time for rest. In addition, some sports run from one season right into the next. The theory is that more training is better and you need to be training year round. The price of this mindset can be overtraining and burnout, resulting in low motivation, decrease in performance, and other symptoms.
