Injuries & Mental Skills
Many athletes will, at some point, suffer from an injury that requires an extended period off training. Injuries can have an effect on the athletes mental wellbeing, especially during competition season. This can result in anxiety & loss of motivation, impacting the success of rehabilitation. Training mental skills during rehab can help athletes cope with the effects of the injury, reduce pain levels, and minimise performance deterioration during recovery.
About the Program
Rest and recovery doesn't have to mean no training. Our mental performance coach will work the injured athlete to help process the mental effects of the injury. Athletes will also learn a variety of mental skills to help them manage the physical and mental effects of the injury. This program focuses on the skills and concepts most beneficial for athletes unable to perform physical exercise. Our injury program can be tailored to the individual needs of the athlete and the period of recovery.
Whats Included
Personalised Mental Skills Training Plan
Athletes will receive a personalised training plan for the length of their recovery period. Concepts & skills covered in the program is based of the athletes goals, injury details, and sport requirements. The coach will facilitate the program during recovery.
Athletes will have a weekly 30 minute mentoring session with our mental performance coach. The coach will facilitate the mental performance plan, discuss the athletes progress, and teach athletes new mental skills & concepts.
Weekly Mentoring Sessions
In the weekly mentoring sessions, the coach will introduce the athlete to a variety of exercises for them to put into practice. Each week, athletes will be taught a new exercises with the aim to improve relaxation, manage pain levels & strengthen coping mechanisms.
Mental Skills Exercises
Athletes will be provided with a range of resources to help them implement what they've learnt into their training program. Other resources like podcast, books, videos etc may be provided to help athletes expand their knowledge & learn new techniques.
